We are back into our regular routine of afternoon meetings after the summer break.
We were happy to be involved in the Whitmore Festival.  Several members attended the unveiling of the Society Blue Plaque on the former railway station Booking Office at the beginning of the week and we also had a stand in the Village Hall on the last Saturday.
Diana Bevan produced another of her excellent displays along with hand-outs including membership forms.  There was considerable interest shown during the day which made it a very worthwhile venture.
I attended a Rotary Club lunchtime meeting and gave a short talk about the Society and its work.
We are pleased to hear that the Castle Motte is receiving some attention and that English Heritage and the County Archaeologist are actively involved.  This historic part of the Borough is deserving of some T.L.C.
