his Winter has been a fairly quiet time in the Society, giving the hard working members of the committee time to refresh themselves ready for more activity in the Spring.  The closing date for the Schools Competition  is not until the end of March and there will not be another Civic Award until 2011.  Other projects will reach their zenith of activity later in the year.

We are delighted to report that our Hon. Treasurer, Alan Varley, who suffered a serious accident towards the end of last year, is making excellent progress and, although not yet fully recovered, is already back in charge of our financial arrangements. There has been a small increase in the annual subscription this year, from £5 to £7,mainly to offset the ever increasing costs of   postage.

There will be some changes at our A.G.M. in May.  Our Chairman and Minuting secretary have both expressed their intention to relinquish these posts after many years of hard work.  We shall be looking for replacements.  If you fancy yourself writing up the proceedings of our monthly meetings, have a word with the Hon. Secretary.

It just remains for me, on behalf of our editorial team,  to wish all our readers a happy and prosperous New Year and success in all your ventures.
