Impatient death
Could you not wait a little longer,
A little longer.
You came too soon
Arabic lament circa 600 AD

Philip Hancock was taken from us suddenly and prematurely on 28th April, peacefully in his sleep.
He had been a  very  active  member of the Civic Society for many years and amongst other projects was responsible for initiating the plaques scheme when, with Wedgwood, he produced a commemorative tablet in honour of Arnold Bennett.
Philip showed great concern for the well being and care of his town and supported many projects relating to preserving all that is good in Newcastle Borough.
A quiet man who kept his many talents to himself and spoke only when he had something relevant to say, Philip was one of nature’s real gentlemen, and a good friend who will be sadly missed.
