On Friday 9th January 2009 at 1.30 pm John Easom (Alumni Officer at Keele University) will be giving a short talk on the Keele Oral History Project and the DVD they are producing for the 60th Diamond Anniversary of the Foundation of the University College of North Staffordshire at Keele to be held in 2009-2010. This short amateur film is being produced entirely by volunteer alumni who were at Keele in the first decade of the 1950s and funded partly by a donation from one of their pioneer alumni. The DVD will feature interviews with former students of the time, contemporary photographs and a narrative. It aims to tell the story of the “footsloggers” – the students of Keele – rather than be an institutional history that focuses on senior members of staff etc. They intend to launch the DVD at their Pioneers Reunion in April 2009. They also hope in time to make available through their website many more of the recorded interviews, images, stories and anecdotes they have been collecting. You can see the early beginnings of their activity here: http://www.keele.ac.uk/alumni/alumni_oralhistory.htm
