The Arnold Bennett Plaque

The Arnold Bennett Plaque

In 2004 the Society, in collaboration with the Arnold Bennett Society, sought to recognise the life and work of Arnold Bennett by erecting a plaque in the school where he was educated. One of our members, Philip Hancock, worked tirelessly to co-ordinate and drive the project through to its conclusion. Wedgwood kindly made the plaque of Blue Jasperware and it is inscribed with 22 carat gold lettering. It is mounted in the entrance hall of the Orme Community and Education Centre, Pool Dam. It was unveiled in April 2005 by Arnold Bennett’s 96 year old niece, Ruth Bennett.
